NEVES MEDEIS – Hils of the Crowned

      NEVES MEDEIS puts me in a slight embarrassment. On the one hand, their music seems to be quite modern. On the other, a little tiring. Before I develop this idea I will present the band itself. NM is a young band as well in terms of seniority as the age. Their work on the music market reaches about 2 years. They already recorded EP and a full debut. Debut, which was very professionally published, I must admit. What about music? Hmm… here begins some difficulties. “Hills of the Crowned” is certainly thoughtful and intelligent album. Album, just like our backyard, thoroughly modern, what is a great advantage for this formation. Music is an energetic combination of hardcore, nu-metal, matalcore and a small amount of death metal. Everything poured with slightly progressive sauce. So, why I have problem with the sounds of this type? Especially when I am a supporter of anything that denies rigidly fixed rules. I don’t know, somehow it doesn’t reach me. Everything is in the right place. Great sound of guitars, great vocal ability. All expressed in various forms - from a pure singing to aggressive shouted verses. Excellent arrangements and thousands of ideas hidden in them. Additionally, not bad lyrics, intelligent compositions and total clearance. Everything that should give me smile and make my ears relaxed. Not exactly. Something is wrong, something I can’t even call. Nevertheless, I believe that before NM there is bright future. I think, even I’m sure that they didn’t show everything they could show. Debut, despite the mild prejudices that I have, is a piece of original music. That’s why it’s the first step towards self-improvement. I know they will get more, that it will be loud about them.
