I see that the Peruvian underground scene is growing stronger and bigger. Every few months I find a next band from your country and most of them are really good! My favorites are Anal Vomit, Goat Semen, Mortem, Disinter and Hadez. Can you give us some more names of the bands from your underground that we should know?

Yes, our "scene" if we might call it like this.. has always had very brutal bands.-.like those you mentioned, but also from our past we had Satanas, Mortuorio, Sarcoma and Curriculum Mortis (One of the most brutal Deathrash Bands ever in South America), also from the last generation of mutant bangers from here check.. Vrown Of worms, Metralla, Bestial Possession and Death Invoker. I am preparing a compilation with these bands.. soon you will hear…! The war goes on down here..!

In my opinion Goat Semen sounds a lot like Sarcofago but you have something in your style what makes you different. I sent few of your songs to my friend and said to him - "Listen to those motherfuckers!!!!! Brazilian gods are asleep but at least we have something really good as replacement!" How do you feel when your band is compared to Sarcofago? Do you hate it or are you proud of it?

Thankxxx for the compliment, we feel proud to keep the bestiality that the old almighty Sarcofago started! Indeed is one of the bands I praise the most! Along with the old Mayhem! What makes us different is maybe that we did not put parameters when composing in terms of obscure moods for the tracks.. it muts be cold, dark and brutal, fast and violent and thrashingly bestial! I think it would not be honest to say we hate to be compared in some way to Sarcofago! How many bands do have this mention??. Not to be a rip off of the mighty Brasilian gods.. but we try to create as much devastation with our songs as they wished when recorded the demos and INRI! I think!.

I know you are a Sarcofago's fan so probably you heard the "Tribute to Sarcofago". I had this CD a couple of years ago and remember that most of the bands didn't even come close to the Brazilian motherfuckers! Good and well-known bands, with much more experience and professional studios and equipment couldn't sound as good as Sarcofago 20 years ago. I think because most of the bands on this compilation tried play as brutal and fast as possible but still couldn't put this much "hearth and soul" to this music as Wagner with his band two decades ago. How do you think?

I absolutely agree with you...not even the Brasilian bands in it honoured the forefathers.!! I have covered "Black Vomit" with my other band Evil Damn, and believe me.. we have been hailed high for this tribute to our old gods! It is actually a challenge to sing respecting the way it muts be the simetry and insanity of Wagner when rises the falsettos and the fast sreaming like singing..but we managed to make a very honorable tribute to this song! A cover must honor the band and the song itself.. not ridicule it!

I heard Goat Semen supposed to play some shows in Europe but it didn't work… Can you tell more about it? Which countries were you going to play? Any chances for Poland? How about United States? (this is more information for me, hahaha).

A great friend and supporter of Goat Semen, Immu of Slugathor (Finland), organized it all,. We had dates for Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland…but unfortunately, the paper for the documents arrived too late and there was not enough time to make the documents visa etc. it is hard and takes time here for us Peruvians to get the Visa for other countries outside of South America, so this was mainly the reason.. delays… but hopefully after the release of the album, we plan a major tour in Europe..! and maybe Poland is included in the Goatour!


Also - how often do you play shows behind the Peruvian border? Which countries did you already played (I know about Ecuador and Colombia)?

We actually don't like to play too often.. unless it is un different cities.. we have made 3 small tours up to now.. first one inside Peru Arequipa-Cusco-Tacna (believe me it is like touring a third part of Europe, distances are long!!) and it was great! Though a bit hard to scream the lungs out more than 3000 mts high in Cusco! Satyricon and I were like exhausted after each song!. Also some gigs were played in Lima, like 5 in total though these years and one in Ica, 5 hours at the south of Lima!.
We have made two tours outside Peru in both we palyed in different cities in Ecuador and Colombia, cities like Riobamba, Quito, pasto, Cali, Suba and Bogota! The audience is wild and mostly in Colombia.. it is similar than in peru! Hails to all Colombian maniacs.. some of the songs we played in our last gig in Bogota have been put like bonus in the European version of the "Devotos Del Diablo" Split. It is like a year and a hal?f we have not played live, and we will not until next year I think!

I saw on your web-site some pictures of Goat Semen playing the show - drummer, one guitar and voice. Is this the final line-up or you are looking for bass player? Goat Semen from studio sounds really strong and solid but I'm afraid that on the stage with just one guitar your sound may be flat and weak?

Levifer is no more in the band, now we have a bass player and a new guitarist! Beleth and Hellfucker respectively!, when the time when we played with a guitar only. .Satyricon managed to fill the empty spaces in some way with the double bass drums.. uhmm.. sometimes it sounded too thin but the bestiality was unleashed in another shape upon the stage then!

We are beast animal from Lima Hell! Hahaha! Yes that review is of a really enthusiastic maniac! And well, the mutants from out there who like bestiality must judge Goat Semen not us!, the demo has been distributed for 2000 copies in cassette demo format! Which is really awesome!, I do not remember(correct me if I am wrong) that even any European band may reach such quantity of demos distributed!, and even the demo has been liscenced to be pressed in disferent parts of the world covering south America, Europe and Asia!, and still I am asked the demo!

I like the cover of this demo - jesus anally raped by black goat! Who is an author of this drawing? One of you? Did you have any problems with the law or with any religion-institution?

I created the concept and I did the artwork of that drawing! I just wanted the artwork to be as extreme as the music it self and I think I got it!
When my friend Karnage Vallot from eternal Fire zine of France came to Peru and saw the artwork before it was released, he told me that none would do T shirts of that un Europe, it would be banned, and well, it has been a bit weird about this shit! A package that Levifer once sent, was captured practically by the Police, and we were called to answer some questions about the artwork, the use of the word terrorist in the tape and to know if were associated with satanic organizations in Lima who were supposedly committing some sacrificial murders around, also I had problems when I wanted to make some woven art patches here.. the bastards said that it was a too strong image and they didn't want to make it! Fuck them all! Motherfucker Christians..! they have been ass fucked and also brain fucked !! that artwork just is a sample of what they and their fucked god are!!!

Talking about intervention of the catholic-church into politic matters or lives of people, etc - how does it look in Peru? See - in Poland church puts its fuckin hands to everything and it's position is really strong. There are even some plots to make Poland as "religious-country" and make jesus as a king of Poland! - can you fucking believe shit like this?

Believe it, here is not so different…though Peru and mostly lima is a wild place, here you can do whatever you want..while you do not kill or damage anybody to death!!! Believe it that's something about Lima and Peru I like like hell! There is a freedom which is close to insult the morals..! haha! Here the Church just take care of their interests! But I think a poor quantity of Mutant maniacs (as we are like 500 only in Lima and faaaar less in other cities) would not mean a risk for their shit! Catholic is the "official" religion of Peru! All of you play or played in the other bands besides Goat Semen. Some of them don't exist anymore. I know some of you played in Black Angel. I just got their split with Brazilian Hinus Paganus. Music from this split sucks for me - looks like both bands have no fucking clue what they want… Did you play at this recording? Do you treat the other band serious or they are just not important projects and Goat Semen is above all of them?

The best work of Black angel is the Rites demo 1997! And I got in touch then to spread it! Around as I was making my zine called Temple Of The Damned back then. Later I got into the band.. and for the very first days of January 2000 I quit BA because the bassist is a stupid guy who turned arrogant and started to act like a glam rockstart, and though the band was only him… when actually he does not know how to even play the instrument! He now needs to mention that levifer and I were in BA some time, to catch some attention from the zines of fans but his current releases are worthless..!
I am part of three bands now Goat Semen, Evil Damn and Saram! All are important for me, but Goat Semen is my creation , while I was invoked by the others! They are all diferents forms of Evil and they all have exelent releases..as well, I share the trenches with real old Metal Mutant warriors in these bands!

In your discography you have seven titles - all demos and split albums. When will you make your first full-time album?

What can you tell us about your Astral Holocaust Prod.? How long are you involved in this kind of activity on the metal scene? What bands do you work with? If I'm not mistaken you are an editor of the underground magazine as well? Do you still working over your 'zine? How many issues did you ménage to make so far?

Temple Of the Damned zine releases 3 issues.. only! And the last gate was open in 1998! Since then on my other activities have put me away from it!
Austral Holocaust first release was the Hadez "Damnations From the Past" in 2001, and I have worked by now with several Peruvian bands. like Epilepsia, Mortuorio, Hadez, Evil Damn, Goat Semen, Saram, Anal Vomit, Crown Of Worms, Metralla, Death Invoker and Bestial Possession…. We use the tape and CD format!!

How big interest in the metal music is in your country these days? I live almost 10 years in U.S. and here metal is dying. For example for Manowar show comes like 500 people. Bands like Sodom or Destruction have even less than 500 people at the shows. Not long ago for Piledriver and Destructor show came maybe 50 people… There is almost no headbanging, etc. In Poland it looks a little better - mentioned before bands could gather much more maniax. How does it look in Peru? How many metalheads could come to see Manowar? How about people? Are they fuckin crazy and make wild mosh under the stage or they rather stand and watch the show?

I would not go to see Manowar actually, uhmm sorry its not like one of my faves unless they paly all "Into Glory Ride"album songs, but well, for the Destruction/Kreator gig in 2002 here there were like 2000 mutants, and for Sodom, where Satyricon and I played opening with Evil Damn, there were like 1200! I think… and the most brutal underground gig I have been lately was with Masacre / Goat Semen 1000 mutants! , an average audience for a gig with local bands.. for example Anal Vomit/Goat Semen/Epilepsia and 3 or 4 more its like 500 or 600 more or less.. I think that it looks like better than in NY! Now.. hahaha! Many bands I have heard that like to play for South American audience it is very wild..and there is this restrained feeling in the air for us, since in the 80's we had not seen big bands like Eurepearns or North American, so even when bands like Destruction or Sodom come to Peru, its like our very first time and unleash all the animosity inside at the front of the stage!. We are few but Metal to the core!!! Metal Mutant Bangers!
