ANTERIOR - own individuality

Everything was like that. Once upon sunny day fire on CD titled "This Age Of Silence", unpredicting really, nothing so promising. Few seconds later sounds heavy, thrash from good workshop and this brothy climate goes during first solo. From that moment I heard this album at least several times and I tell You my love savages, ANTERIOR with his debut album break the silence in this genre from times of last album of Nevermore. During consume tasty riffs, happen seldom meet things. I can't sit peacefully before monitor, claping next words, and what is most important... attention!!! Mr. Mankowski starts to poke in heavy metal. From the first meet with album passed some time, and I still dry amenity, when the first time. Definitely fairest album from last compositions of Metal Blade. Read and goes to "... not for idiots" by cut. I guarantee, that You are not disappoint with this.

I congratulate great album. Maybe at the begining You can tell us about work with "This Age Of Silence".

Thank you very much, We started recording in Febuary this year after signing with Metal Blade a few months earlier. We were in the studio for 31 days which was quite an experience for us, the longest we had ever spent in a studio previous to that was 7 days I think. We're all really happy with how the album turned out, Everyone surpassed themselves on this record I think.

Guitarist's contribution is genuine string artistry, which every respected guitarist not ashamed. So, there is a question, are these abilities have basis in musical education, or You are self-taught?

No-one in Anterior has had any sort of professional tuition, everything has been learnt by watching the greats such as Paul Gilbert and Alexi Lahio. When you're younger you tend to start learning by playing other peoples songs, then you form you own technique based upon your musical tastes and what you like about guitar. We've always liked impressive lead lines and solos, so you tend to add a lot more to your music. Everyone in the band has always been commited to their instrument aswell, it takes a lot of effort and practice to become a proficient guitarist or drummer, and its very important to understand the level of dedication that you need to input to become a good player.

Riding further, I can't bypass question aobut your inspirations, on which You polished your guitarist's workshop. What inspirated You several and few years ago, and what today? Have You these situations, that diametrically other music, sound, push idea to good riff, solo?

When we was younger I think Metallica were the main inspiration to start playing music, I remember listening to Metallica and thinking 'fuck! I want a guitar!' You start to broaden your musical tastes then, I like a lot lot of different artists and Genres and I think its important to draw influence from different styles of music. If I were to name more recent influences however, I would have to say that Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom and In Flames have played a major part in influencing us. We draw influences but we're not trying to be those bands, we try to make our music as individual as possible, I think thats important also.

I read on band's site, that You are looking bassman now. Have You someone concrete on eye?

Yeah, at the moment the position hasn't been filled by a permanent member. We've had quite a few guys come in and audition, but theres a lot involved in being in a band, a lot of dedication is required. They also have to get along with us real well, and vice versa, being un a band with someone is such a different relationship, especially at this level. You have to spend so much time together, and when your in a signed band you have to mix business and pleasure, sure you love playing gigs and writing material, but the band also needs to be run, and its quite involved business wise.

James Britton participated in recordings of "This Age Of Silence". What was the reson, that You are not cooperate further?

Yeah thats right, he left just after the recording of the album. He said that he wasnt enjoying the band anymore and wanted to go back to university and settle down with his girlfriend. Fair enough, we didnt leave on a bad note, some people just find that this isn't the life for them.

What aobut situation with concerts for closest months, weeks?

We plan on doing as much touring as possible in the coming months, really want to get out name out there right throughout Europe. We have a UK tour booked with The Black Dahlia Murder next month which we're all really looking forward to. Were currently in talks with a European booking agent for dates in Europe this year, im also really looking forward to playing in Europe, loads of people have come back with nothing but great stories of Europe so im stoked.

All compositions are very obtained in every compositor's way. Every solo is in his place, and thrash making adding fire. These tracks are not make on notorious knee. How it look with composing in Anterior? Do You close before all over the world, flaps on eyes and then exists only imagination and instruments?

Every song was written to sound good to us, if we thought it couldn't get any better then it was finished. The songs change quite a bit during the writing process bits are added here bits are added there, some songs get scrapped completely. Leon has done an excellent job with the solo work on this record, and Ross an equally good job with the drums. Im proud as hell of them and of the record.

Approximating to the end, You have a chance tell something nice to our polish well-wishers of your band on Psycho magazine, and salute offcourse your friends etc...

Thank you very much for your time, go out and buy the album 'This Age Of Silence' im sure you won't be disapointed with it. Hope to see you all real soon. Thanks again.

Thank's for your time and to see on concerts...

Thanks for the oppourtunity. I hope that all my answers are enough.
Thanks agin
Luke
